OVERVIEW

TATA HITACHI EX210LC

History of Excavators is long if we dig deep, and in India Tata Hitachi is the most experienced player in the field. 

I tested the Hitachi EX210 LC recently.  which had already clocked around 4 thousand hours  I operated it for 4 hours continuously in excavation and truck loading. I am writing my Experience based on my Time with Tata Hitachi.

Engine Performance

The Cummins 5.9BT 6 Cylinder engine that churns out 133PS  engine that powers the Tata Hitachi EX210 Lc is good. I cannot complain about the NVH levels as all the Excavators I have tested To date were Noisy. But the Hydraulic pumps that have been used in this machine are very good. I felt the operation to be smooth. The pumps the helped in the movement of arm and boom has the linear flow and works well. This helps in gaining momentum while working.

Cabin of EX210LC

The cabin initially doesn’t look modern but looks like any other excavator.  I  spend more time in the cabin and get used to its ergonomics it certainly feels to be a good place. Especially the position of operating lever both on left and right is very comfortable. They are so smartly placed like they are natural posture to rest hands on. 

The Ac vents are too many and automatic AC is complemented here. Most operators don’t prefer to operate with AC on due to certain reasons still it holds good. The efficiency of AC is Decent.

Strengths

The major strength of TaTA Hitachi ex210 LC lies in its ability to do work faster. The gradeability of this excavator is 35 degrees or 70%.   The main pump has two variable displacement axial piston pump with has a flow of 2X221L/M. The pilot pump has one gear and the max oil flow rate is 20L/M. The service intervals are 3000 hours or hydraulic oil and 1500 hours for hydraulic Filter change meaning more uptime. 14RPM swing speed is better.

Arm and Boom

 The one I tested was fitted with 2.9M arm length which can go maximum upto 10 meter up and front and while 600mm wide tracks placed at ground level the digging can be done upto 6.5M. There are plenty of attachments available along with factory fitted breaker pipe option.

Mileage

As there are two modes available mainly Ep mode and Hp mode, The light works In Ep mode consumes 12-14 liters per hour and In very Heavy work in Hp mode the average consumption is around 14-16 liters per hour

CONclusion

With 2 years or 5000 hours warranty from Tata Group, the highest resale in the segment and most trusted years as an excavator TATA Hitachi 210LC is something that can be on the top priority while looking for 20 Ton excavators in India. The price bracket is almost the same for this segment so nothing special note to say about this point. 

But for surely TATA Hitachi 210Lc needs some improvements like better ergonomics and added features like more efficient AC, Insulation of Floor and some refinement in the engine.  But these should not be the deciding factor as TaTA has best machines in industry and their parts availability is very great.
